What is the Mason Corporate Challenge?

The Mason Corporate Challenge is a 5k walk/run designed to engage the Mason corporate community in a city-wide competition, support employee involvement in health and wellness activities, and give back by donating proceeds to select charities. Each company will form a team comprised of employees and their families to compete.

The City of Mason and the Mason Community Center are committed to cultivating a culture of wellness for the companies, citizens and visitors to the community. The Mason Corporate Challenge is a unique opportunity to bring Mason portfolio companies and their employees together, foster healthy activities and support talent recruitment.

In 2015, Russ Walker, the president and CEO of L-3, reached out to the Mason Economic Development office and outlined a vision for a wellness event that would bring the Mason corporate community together in a fun, competitive way. Russ had been part of a corporate challenge in a previous city and believed the initiative would work well in Mason. He also wanted a charitable component, and the idea was launched to bring the businesses of Mason together in a Mason Corporate Challenge.

When is the race? When is the social hour?

The 5k walk/run is on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at 9 a.m. Following participants’ completion of the race, post-race refreshments will be available.

When and where is packet pickup?

Packet pickup will take place on Friday, Oct. 19, between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Mason Community Center, located at 6050 Mason-Montgomery Road.

Can my company set up a table at the event?

Corporate Tables are available and can be set up on the day of the event. For more details, contact jjohnson@masonoh.org.

What all do I need to do to register a team?

  • Form a team of employees, families and friends. The more people the better!
  • Decide if the company will pay for participant registration (jjohnson@masonoh.org will provide a coupon code for employee use) or if employees pay for their registration.
  • Choose your charity for race proceeds to be donated and share this with Jessica Johnson. All proceeds from employees associated with a business will go toward the charity selected by the business.

How do I submit a Challenger Video?

What if I want to get involved but can’t participate in the race?

Our new sleep-in option gives you the opportunity to make a donation that supports a corporate team. Donations are accepted on our registration page.

What is the cost to register?

Registration is $25 for adults and $10 for youth ages 14 and under. Online registration ends Oct. 18 at 11:59 p.m.
